A new squat has appeared discreetly in Strasbourg, in the Cronenbourg district. Unlike the Hôtel de la Rue, rue Gruber in Koenigshoffen, and the Bugatti in Eckbolsheim, two other squats that opened this summer, this one is smaller.

He would welcome between five and ten people without accommodation, mainly at night, according to an activist association: "They are homeless and migrants who have found nothing despite calls to 115". They have a very specific project. "We would like to create a cultural and ecological meeting place," explains one of the occupants. Kitchen and participative garden, market gardening and marauding, cultural meetings ... Squatters dream of occupying the house in self-management.

City complained

Problem, the building is the property of the Eurometropolis which filed a complaint for "illegal occupation" this Thursday, January 30, according to Rue89 Strasbourg. This is confirmed by Marie-Dominique Dreyssé (EELV), assistant to the mayor of Strasbourg, in charge of Solidarity: "We are in the process of completing the file," she explains at 20 Minutes . The place is in bad condition, the responsibility of the city is engaged ”.

In addition, the building has no water, no electricity and would be doomed for demolition, according to the elected official. Difficult conditions which take nothing away from the determination of the occupants. "We don't want a conflict with the city or the police, we just want to stay and have a roof," said one of them. They now fear deportation.
