Legal advice, locksmith techniques, information on the type of properties susceptible to appropriation or keys to respond if an eviction attempt occurs. These are some of the contents offered in one of the

"squatting workshops"

that are taught in a warehouse owned by the Seville City Council and in which the

Malatesta Self-Managed Squatted Social Center (CSOA)

has installed its permanent headquarters for almost a year. .

The municipal government has requested this Thursday "through judicial means" the eviction of these four municipal warehouses occupied in March 2023 in the Store industrial estate, in the North district of the city, after the alarm raised by the activities that the activists of Malatesta perform in that

"squatter office",

which is how they themselves define it.

"You too squat"

was the motto of the days held in those warehouses last weekend, according to the posters spread both physically and on social networks and that the Vox deputy for Seville

Reyes Romero

has reproduced on her Twitter profile.

Saturday's day began with the presentation of the

"Squatting Office"

and a talk on "legal issues" linked to it. Afterwards, an

"electricity workshop"

was held ,

which gave way to a "vegan meal." In the afternoon, the session restarted with a discussion on

"the myths of squatting"

and specific training on the

"steps to squatting

. "

Later, a snack was held and the day closed with a

"locksmith workshop"

.

The "squatter office" is open to the public from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday, according to the information offered on some informative platforms that the squatter movement has on the internet.

The Urban Planning delegate of Seville,

Juan de la Rosa,

reported this Thursday that, "after verifying that the warehouses were occupied in an unauthorized manner and given the impossibility of accessing the properties, the City Council notified the Forces and Corps Security and has started the

eviction process.

The warehouses are located at numbers 48 and 52 of

Calle Escarpia del Polígono Store

and are attached to the Municipal Land Heritage Inventory, which uses them as a warehouse for the Statistics Service.

As EL MUNDO has been able to verify, a man has been living in one of those warehouses for months who, apparently, is unrelated to the activity carried out there by the Malatesta collective. Neighbors of a mechanical workshop in the industrial estate have explained to this newspaper that this person lives alone in one of the premises, from which he enters and leaves daily and where it is common to hear him playing the drums.

It is in the warehouse next door, at number 48 Escarpia Street, where the activities organized by the

Malatesta Self-Managed Squatted Social Center (CSOA) are held,

which even has an identifying sign on the door, as well as some linked banners. to the "anarchotransfeminist" movement

:

"Against all authority"; "down the walls"; "peace between peoples, war between classes."

The Vox deputy

Reyes Romero

has transferred the matter to the

Congress of Deputies

, asking the Government if it plans to "collaborate with the city councils" in the eradication of occupation activities or if, on the contrary, "it is going to continue looking the other way." ".
