A skeleton, probably that of a patient who disappeared in October 2018, was discovered on Saturday in a thick hedge, on the parking lot of the hospital in Béziers (Hérault), the parquet floor announced in a press release.

After the discovery of the body, by workers responsible for shaving this hedge, the first examinations carried out on the bones by a forensic scientist from the medico-legal institute of Montpellier allowed "to make a highly probable rapprochement" with a fifty-year-old disappeared from the hospital on October 25, 2018, specifies the press release of the public prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland.

Investigation into causes of death

The man, born in 1965, had left the hospital at dawn on October 25, leaving the department where he was being treated for "a serious illness". This "runaway" was immediately reported by the establishment and an investigation opened for worrying disappearance. The missing person could never be located, the file was closed by the prosecution in June 2019.

A new investigation was launched on Saturday to investigate the cause of the man's death. The autopsy scheduled for Tuesday and further investigations by then "will probably confirm the identity of the deceased in the coming days," says the press release from Raphaël Balland.
