The preventive measures that were taken by the concerned authorities to face the intense precipitation of rain water during the past few days, after it led to the presence of large water pools in a number of streets in Dubai and the northern regions, resulted in blockages in the streams of a number of water drainage channels, due to the dust carried by the rain wind.

Among the most prominent measures taken is the decision of the administrations of private schools in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to suspend studies today.

The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services revealed that it had dealt with 1550 reports during the rainy period, and said that it had dealt during the last three days with 145 car accidents.

And «Emirates Today» monitored water pools in several streets, in Dubai, such as Jumeirah Street, Al Wasl Street, Al-Maabar Commercial Street and Rabat Street, in addition to major streets, such as Sheikh Zayed Road, which necessitated traffic diversions.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority closed driving training institutes in anticipation of accidents, and suspended the maritime transport service temporarily, and was forced to close the technical inspection center in Al Barsha, due to an electrical failure caused by rain.

The heavy rains that fell on Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah during the past days caused damage to several areas, the closure of roads and lanes, and the development of temporary transfers of vehicles, to ensure the flow of traffic, and in the interest of public safety.
