Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority reported that three new private schools with a variety of educational curricula will enter service at the beginning of the next academic year (2021/2020), with an estimated capacity of 6,240 academic seats, bringing the number of private schools in the emirate to 212. It teaches 16 educational curricula.

The authority confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the educational field in Dubai will witness, in September, the opening of at least three new private schools, pointing to the possibility of increasing this number.

She explained that she had received a number of requests to open new schools, others, but she had not yet decided, adding that the increase in the number of private schools, and the diversity of curricula offered to students in the Emirati community, increase the opportunities for students ’families to choose the most appropriate school for their children, educationally and financially.

The authority pointed out that Dubai witnessed during the past four years the opening of 44 private schools, distributed in its various residential areas, with a capacity of 96 thousand new academic seats, explaining that the increase in the number of schools is commensurate with the rate of growth in the number of students, which reached in the last four years 11 %, Which reflects the attractiveness of the private education sector in Dubai to educational service providers on the one hand, and to families of different cultures and nationalities, on the other hand.

The emirate witnessed the opening of five new private schools at the beginning of the current academic year, with a total capacity estimated at seven thousand and 96 school seats, targeting new residential communities, as they were distributed in different areas in Dubai, namely, Al Twar 2, Al Qusais, Jumeirah Village, Al Quoz and Jebel Ali.

Four schools offer a British curriculum, and the fifth is the International Baccalaureate curriculum.

The authority’s statistics indicate that more than 20,000 teachers from 121 countries work in private schools in the emirate, and the nationalities of its 296,000 students are distributed among 181 nationalities.

India, the United Kingdom and Egypt each occupy the first three places in terms of numbers of teachers in the private school education sector in Dubai, with 5947 teachers from India, 3735 from the United Kingdom, and 1885 teachers from the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The authority emphasized that the quality of education is the most important pillar of attracting new branches of international schools, noting that the diversity in the curricula of private schools meets the different needs and aspirations of students ’students, and schools focus on concepts of environmental education, sustainability and the arts, while others focus on innovation, technology and quality of life, and then those with Students choose what meets their current needs and future aspirations with regard to their children's education, in a manner that is commensurate with the individual financial plans of each family.

The authority added that the new private schools in the emirate offer different packages of options for students ’families, which enhances competition in the private schools sector, and leads to more quality education and options.
