“The Paton Institute, which is engaged in welding, has prepared a project to dismantle the Soviet coat of arms, but this is an expensive solution,” TASS quoted him as saying.

According to the director of the institute, the project also requires complex technical and engineering solutions.

“Also difficult calculations are necessary so that the statue does not lean after one of its elements has been removed. If loaded with some constructions and devices, they can outweigh the Motherland, because there is a very complicated engineering structure that cannot be unbalanced, ”explained Drobovich.

He promised to apply to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine with a request to finance these works in 2020, and also to conduct a survey among citizens about the possibility of attracting taxpayer funds.

“Or we’ll suggest coming up with a lighter draft solution to the issue,” he concluded.

In February, Ukraine was called upon to remove the Soviet coat of arms from the Mother Motherland monument, opened in Kiev in 1981.
