The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that the talk of Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant about dismantling the force of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Khan Yunis area, south of the Gaza Strip, is a repetition of what he previously said regarding the northern Gaza Strip, and then it turned out to be contrary to reality.

Gallant had conducted an inspection tour of the Israeli forces in Khan Yunis, and said that the army had dismantled the Hamas movement’s force there, and that it would complete its operations in the city and then move south to Rafah, adding that military pressure on Hamas would contribute to the return of the prisoners detained in Gaza.

According to an interactive map broadcast by Al Jazeera, despite the occupation army’s announcement of its withdrawal of forces from Khan Yunis, the intensity of operations has not diminished, and is concentrated in the western, northern and southwestern regions, and is accompanied by intense overflights and targeting by Israeli fighter aircraft on several sites.

Regarding Gallant’s statements, Al-Duwairi explained that he had previously talked about dismantling the Hamas force in the north, but it later became clear that it had not been dismantled and is still providing an effective performance. Today, he is talking about dismantling the Al-Qassam Brigades battalion in Khan Yunis, while the existing force is a brigade supported by elite forces. From different factions.

It's normal

Regarding the occupation army’s talk about finding weapons stores and destroying them, the military expert believes that this is a normal thing that could happen, and does not mean much, considering that the real dilemma is continuing efforts to establish a security buffer zone.

In this context, Al-Duwairi indicated that preparations for these efforts began some time ago and that they will not be an easy task, noting that the attempts previously made by the occupation during previous years did not continue due to popular rejection.

Regarding the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the north, Al-Duwairi confirmed that they had withdrawn from all of the northern region, and that the forces carrying out operations in the north come from the Gaza Valley, where they enter from the Sheikh Ajlan area and clash with the resistance, adding that the resistance videos released during the previous two days reveal the intensity of Fighting in that area.

Al-Duwairi attributed the reduction in escalation in some fighting areas to reasons for both parties, as the occupation forces did not succeed in storming the camps, while the resistance forces need time to reorganize their ranks, as they did on some other fighting fronts.
