Measures twice a year

As part of the work to reduce food waste, measurements are made twice a year in all Sala's municipal cooking kitchens. This has been done since 2014.

On Monday, the two-week survey was started in preschools, schools and elderly homes.

When SVT Nyheter Västmanland visited the Kungsänggymnasiet, head chef Lisa Köpman told us that the waste was reduced by better planning in connection with cooking and serving.

In addition to the measurements, table riders have been placed in the dining halls with information on the climate impact of the food waste, and the walking prize "Gold plate" is distributed to the school that threw the least food during the measurement.
