Protesters dressed in white gathered in front of the Catalan regional government headquarters in Barcelona on Saturday. They demand dialogue between the Spanish and the Catalan government and want imprisoned Catalan leaders to be released.

Some of the protests last week ended in riots and riots, and up to 128 people were arrested. But today's demonstrations must have been calmer and peaceful.

The demonstration train shows signs with a picture of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Catalonia's leader Quim Torra as they kiss each other. On the sign is the message "peace, dialogue".

- What is happening now is simply a problem among the citizens of Catalonia. Some people want independence and others do not want it and we have to talk to each other to solve this problem, says pensioner Jodri Pedret to Reuters.

The student Victor agrees.

- Two sides have been created that are becoming more and more irreconcilable each time and we are here because we do not belong to any party. We believe that the only solution is dialogue. Both sides really need to talk. The Spanish government should focus on dialogue and they should not repel each other. And here in Catalonia, the government should not do what is convenient for them without consulting the people.

Catalonia's short-lived Declaration of Independence 2017 started a political crisis in Spain and is an important issue in the upcoming elections on November 10.
