On Saturday, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited one of the affected provinces, Murcia. According to the AFP news agency, he promised that the Spanish government will do everything possible to repair the major material damage caused by the storm.

The weather phenomenon, "gota fría" (cold drop or rainfall), usually hits Spain in the fall and is well known. However, this year's storm is described as the worst since 1987, according to El País.
