Some 35,000 homes were still without power on Friday morning in a large part of northern France, Enedis said, stressing that it had restored electricity to 55,000 homes after the passage of storm Louis which swept the country, according to a point at 8 hours.

The distribution network manager assured that power will be restored to the “vast majority” of the remaining 35,000 households “by the end of the day”.

Winds exceeding 100 km/h

In addition to these 90,000 homes plunged into darkness, storm Louis, which swept across France on Thursday, with winds exceeding 100 km/h and torrential rains, caused the death of a motorist drowned in his car in the Deux-Côtes Sevres.

This is the biggest storm since the start of the year, although less intense than Ciaran and Domingos which caused the death of three people and deprived more than a million homes of electricity, especially in Brittany, early November.
