Togo qualified for the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Les Éperviers defeated Comoros at home on Tuesday (September 10th) thanks to a goal by Kassim M'Dahoma and a goal by Gilles Sunu (2-0).

After failing to qualify for CAN 2019 in Egypt on the final day of the playoffs against Benin (2-1), Claude Le Roy, the coach of Togo, was expected at the turn, as the Sparrowhawks. " We must attack this match as if we had a score to go up, " said the coach.

In the first leg, the Sparrowhawks had drawn 1-1 (1-1) despite opening Kodjo Fodoh Laba in the 33rd minute. After the break, the Comorians had equalized in the 49th thanks to Ibrahim Youssouf.

Gilles Sunu releases the Togolese

At home, the Togolese did not wait very long to open the scoring after a goal against his camp Kassim M'Dahoma in the 10th minute. Togo, who already had the opportunity to participate in the finals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, had the ball 2-0 in the feet of Matthieu Dossevi who can not fool the goalkeeper Ali Ahamada (32). After the draw at Moroni in the first leg, Togo still seems to have done the right operation by returning to the locker room at the end of the first period.

Back on the pitch, the Togolese push, but do not concretize the image of the shot by Gilles Sunu in the surface (67th). But the former player Angers found the solution with a ball that touches the post before entering the cage (71). Relieved, the Sparrowhawks leave the field with a victory that allows them to continue in the race to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The fourteen survivors of this preliminary round, as well as the twenty-six automatically qualified nations, will then be divided into ten groups of four teams. Finally, the first of each group will take part in dams. The five winners of these round-trip confrontations will represent Africa at the next World Cup.
