Djabir Ibrahim, director of the emergency room of a hospital in Moroni, the capital of Cote d'Ivoire, said that day that the riots had resulted in one death and at least six injuries.

Protesters set fire to a minister's house, blocked several roads in Moroni and clashed with security forces.

  The Comorian government has reportedly accused the country's opposition of inciting unrest because of difficulty accepting the results of the electoral defeat.

The opposition denies this.

  Comorian government spokesman Humaid Msaidi said that several demonstrators have been arrested.

He said that the government would continue to look for the instigators of the riots and that "the country cannot surrender to violence."

  The Independent National Electoral Commission of Comoros announced the preliminary results of the first round of voting for the presidential election on the 16th local time. The current president Azali Assoumani won more than half of the votes and won the presidential election.

Azali received 62.97% of the vote.

There were nearly 340,000 registered voters in this election, with a turnout rate of 16.3%.

According to Comorian electoral law, the candidate who obtains more than half of the votes in the first round of the presidential election is directly elected.

The preliminary results of the presidential election must be submitted to the Supreme Court to determine whether they are valid, and the final results of the presidential election will be announced by the Supreme Court.
