Work on the budget for 2019 is in full swing in Falkenberg and on the politicians' table is now a proposal from the officials: cuts of a total of SEK 52 million in the municipality's operations.

Must find efficiency improvements

Lars Fröding, municipal manager in Falkenberg.

- With such a large economy as a municipality has, it is always our mission to find efficiency improvements. We have always strived to meet the budget we have and we always have a wallet to deal with. It is not revolutionary, says commander Lars Fröding.

The activities covered are the Social Committee, the Children and Education Board, the Culture and Leisure Committee, the Technical Board and the Service Board. According to the mandate given to them by the municipal council, everyone is to make proposals on the corresponding two percent of the budget framework.

Does this mean that the politicians have been given indications that the municipality will have less money to move around?

- No, it shows that our highest decision-making politicians take responsibility for the situation we are in. We have a population structure that means we have to be more efficient, replies Lars Fröding.

After the proposals have been approved by the politicians in the various committees, they are presented in the Budget Committee, which starts on September 23. On November 26, a final decision will be taken by the Council. It will be implemented in 2020.
