This Sunday, Bruno Le Maire announced that the State was going to “make an immediate effort of 10 billion euros in savings”. This Monday, the Minister Delegate in charge of Public Accounts announced the implementation from 2024 of a flat-rate contribution for employees to the personal training account (CPF). Nothing really new.

We will have to tighten our belts. To urgently release 10 billion euros, Bercy is imposing a slimming regime on all ministries. To do this, the principle of compulsory out-of-pocket costs for users of the personal training account (CPF) will be "implemented this year", Thomas Cazenave, the Minister Delegate in charge of Public Accounts, announced this Monday. If the government also wants a reduction in civil servants' offices, there is nothing really new in the announcements.

200 million euros in savings

Regarding the professional training account, the government confirmed this Monday morning the introduction of a 10% remainder for employees. The measure should enable savings of 200 million euros. But the idea has been on the table for several months and the executive wants to empower employees, as he says. Same thing for learning. Last June, the government was already considering reducing public funding. This was part of the options for the 2024 budget. It is now an immediate savings measure of 200 million euros.

Another announcement which does not exude novelty, the desire to reduce by a quarter the surfaces occupied by the State. Last November, Thomas Cazeneuve had already revealed his intention without giving a precise timetable. The figure of 10 billion euros in savings itself was set by the Minister of the Economy more than six months ago now.
