July 1 as a result of a fire on a research deep-sea vessel of the Russian Navy killed 14 people. As noted in the Ministry of Defense, the sailors who died from combustion products, "at the cost of their lives" eliminated the source of fire and saved the rest of the submariners and the apparatus itself.

Captain 2nd rank Dmitry Solovyov during a fire brought out a civilian specialist from the emergency compartment and hit the door behind him, thus preventing the spread of fire.

“Immediately after the withdrawal of the civilian specialist from the compartment, Dmitriy Soloviev drafted a hatch for the non-proliferation of fire throughout the deep-water apparatus. Then the officer continued to fight for the survivability of the ship in the emergency compartment along with other crew members, ”noted the Ministry of Defense.

The journalists of the video agency RT Ruptly met with Solovyov’s classmates, who are convinced that the submariner could not do otherwise.

“Knowing Dima, I think that he would not have done otherwise. I understand that he acted as a professional in his field, but knowing his human qualities, I think he could not have done otherwise, ”Anna Moskalenko is convinced.

The rector of the Assumption Church of the city of Pochep, Roman Kruglikov, who also studied with Solovyov, recalled that he had recently revised the video from the school graduation party. According to Kruglikov, Solovyov already then knew that he wanted to become a military man.

“He was asked if the camera was pointed there:“ How do you see yourself in the future? ” He said: "I see myself in the military." Specifically, clearly. It was his life position, his life attitude, his goal, ”recalls Kruglikov.

“He was a responsible person, so there is no surprise here. Everything took over, as they say, the fire took over, ”recalls a classmate Svetlana Kondolba.

Note that Solovyov was awarded the medals "For Services to the Fatherland 2nd degree", the medal "For Courage" and the Ushakov Medal.

"I was sick of the soul because he had a unit"

Captain 1st Rank Vladimir Abankin told a friend of the deceased - told by his friend, a submariner Alexander Skubanov. Recalling his comrade, the sailor notes: Abankin was a "high-quality professional" who passed through a rigorous selection for the senior officer's rank.

“I treated the service very carefully. Never had he been such that he was sick (he missed the service. - RT ). He was sick of the fact that he had a unit — he was appointed commander of the electricians group — he was very responsible, ”Skubanov said.

Abankin's wife, Elena and two daughters, remained in St. Petersburg, the youngest of whom is about 6 years old, Skubanov said.

“Very responsible, he loved his wife very much. They lived together all their lives in the north, ”recalls Abankin’s friend.

He noted that Abankin was always ready to come to the rescue: in the 90s, when they sometimes received less wages or experienced other problems, they all "actually lived in the same family." Abankin’s favorite hobby was fishing, Skubanov added.

“He loved fishing very much. Even a couple of times with him. I am not a fisherman, I do not like fishing. But they came to visit him, he took to the Gulf of Finland and we went there, ”the submariner added.

Abankin is a holder of the Order of Courage, awarded with the medals "For Services to the Fatherland" 1st and 2nd degree, as well as the Ushakov Medal.

In addition to him, there were six captains of the 1st rank aboard the apparatus: the heroes of Russia Denis Dolonsky and Nikolai Filin, Andrey Voskresensky, Konstantin Ivanov, Denis Oparin and Konstantin Somov.

Three more, including Dmitry Solovyov, were captains of the 2nd rank: Alexander Avdonin and Sergey Danilchenko. Viktor Kuzmin and Vladimir Sukhinichev had the rank of captain of the 3rd rank. Lieutenant colonel of medical service Alexander Vasilyev and lieutenant commander Mikhail Dubkov were killed.

All the families of the dead submariners of the Ministry of Defense will assist to ensure a decent standard of living, assured Shoigu. The Defense Ministry emphasizes that by their actions the submariners saved the rest of the crew.

“Were true patriots of the Motherland, the highest professionals, repeatedly awarded state awards for the performance of military duty and the tasks of higher command,” the agency’s website says. “Thanks to timely, dedicated and competent actions, submariners, at the cost of their lives, eliminated the source of fire, saved their comrades and the deep-water apparatus.”
