It's a dinner that makes a lot of talking. Le Figaro reveals that Marion Maréchal met Tuesday evening about fifteen elected Republicans in a Parisian restaurant. The niece of Marine Le Pen spent the evening with LR deputies and members of the political bureau of the party. One more step in its strategy of joining the rights between the right of the Republicans and the National Rally (RN).

They did not talk about alliances. Erik Tegnér, a young LR activist who participated in the organization of the dinner assures him: " it was about debating basic ideas ," reports Le Figaro .

MPs and senators LR at the same table as Marion Maréchal , the signal is strong. And it comes at a time when Republicans are in doubt after the defeat of the Europeans.

The fear of a flight of the elected to the far right worries the leadership of the party. Laurence Sailliet, spokesperson LR, found " unacceptable " " collusion with the RN " without asking the exclusion of elected officials who participated in this dinner.

On the RN side, the initiative is viewed with kindness. There is no competition between Marion Maréchal and the party of Marine Le Pen, says MP RN, Sébastien Chenu.

" Anything that makes it possible to talk to one another, to break down the barriers, goes in the right direction, whether one is inside or outside the movement. Wherever we can be useful to the movement and the ideas that are ours, we must do it. All of this is part of the same overall movement that puts National Rally at the center of the game. "

Marion Maréchal is definitely coveted at this time since the Medef, the union bosses, invited him to his summer school in late August for a round table on populism. Several members of La République en marche (LaREM) have already decided to boycott the event.
