Donald Trump did not rule Thursday the idea of inviting the White House Toronto Raptors, the first Canadian basketball team to have won the NBA title.
"If they wish, we will think about it," said the US President at a meeting in the Oval Office with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
"They played beautifully, I looked a little, they were really good (...) A lot of other people come" to the White House, he added in reference to the athletes regularly welcomed at the White House.
A tradition that has taken on a political dimension since Donald Trump came to power.
The Boston Red Sox baseball team's Puerto Rican manager, Alex Cora, has recently declined the presidential invitation with three of his black players.
The NBA winners Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018 had also snubbed the traditional reception at the White House, as did the Philadelphia Eagles after winning in 2018 the Super Bowl, big final of the National Football League. (NFL).
