German world champion Dennis Schröder celebrated another sense of success in the North American Basketball League (NBA) with the Toronto Raptors after three recent defeats. The Canadians won on Wednesday (local time) against the Charlotte Hornets 123:117, but as twelfth in the Eastern Conference they remain outside the playoff places in the North American professional basketball league.

Schröder contributed at least 16 points after recently remaining pointless. The 30-year-old also received five assists. The outstanding player, however, was Miles Bridges with 45 points, although he couldn't prevent Charlotte from losing the game for the ninth time in a row.

However, it seems unclear whether Schröder will end the season in Toronto. According to media reports in the USA, the playmaker is considered a trade candidate; the transfer period in the NBA closes on Thursday. Schröder is linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves and once again the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he was already under contract twice in 2020/2021 and 2022/2023.

Daniel Theis loses with the Clippers

According to information from The Athletic, Minnesota is said to be very interested in signing Schröder on a short-term basis. The world champion from Braunschweig should give the squad more depth as a development player. Schröder has been playing for the Raptors since this season and his contract is valid for another season. The German national team captain has been playing in the NBA since 2023.

In the West, Daniel Theis' Los Angeles Clippers lost their top position with a 106:117 defeat against the New Orleans Pelicans - for the first time this season, the Californians were not in the lead once. After four wins in a row, it was the first defeat for the Clippers. As fourth in the table, the Clippers are still well in the race in the West. However, Theis remained relatively inconspicuous with two points and one rebound.
