"According to the investigation, on the morning of May 28 ... Kosovo police invaded the serb-populated municipalities in the north of the province and arrested a Russian citizen, a member of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), Mikhail Krasnoshchekov, who has diplomatic immunity," the UK website said.

It is noted that he suffered injuries.

"The unlawful methods of influence and the retention of Mikhail Krasnoshchekov by Kosovo Special Forces grossly violate the norms of international law and civilized communication," noted in the UK.

On May 28, Serbian President Alexander Vucic reported the detention of a Russian citizen - a member of the UN mission - by the Kosovo police. The Russian Foreign Ministry called this detention a blatant act.

In turn, the Russian embassy condemned the operation of the Kosovo police and demanded the immediate release of the Russians.

As noted in the UN Mission in Kosovo, in addition to the Russians, a Serbian employee was also detained, both were injured. Subsequently, Krasnoshchekov was released.

It was also reported that Kosovo would be required to withdraw immunity from a Russian UN official.
