Donald Trump helps American farmers affected by the trade war with China. The president announced Thursday the release of a $ 16 billion envelope. An amount which, according to the administration, corresponds to the losses caused by the Chinese retaliation for taxes imposed by the United States.

The sixteen billion dollar farm aid announced by Donald Trump is in addition to the $ 12 billion already released last year. The president intends to finance this new envelope by the taxes he has imposed on Chinese products : " This aid to farmers will come from billions of dollars raised by the Treasury. We are going to amass a lot of billions of dollars. The sixteen billion aid will help our dear farmers to remain prosperous, and make it clear that no country can veto the economy and national security. We can not let that happen. Never. "

Despite strong tensions between China and the United States, Donald Trump is optimistic about the outcome of the trade war he is delivering in Beijing: " I continue to hope that we will come to an understanding with China and I can not wait to meet President Xi. "

American farmers, many of whom voted for Donald Trump, are hit hard by the trade war, their exports to China have fallen, many products are affected: corn, wheat, cotton, pork, milk, and especially soy. With this emergency help, said the president, the administration wants to thank the "enthusiasm and patriotism" of farmers.
