Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has used the ten-year challenge spread through social media to ridicule remarks by US national security adviser John Bolton.

Zarif, through his Twitter account, published two pictures of two previous statements published by Bolton calling for attacking Iran militarily, one in 2009 and the other in 2019.

"The same nonsense, the same arrogance, and the same delusions," Zarif wrote on the two-year-old pictures.

Last week saw mobilization and leaks that led to a serious belief that a team within the administration of US President Donald Trump pushed for military action against Iran. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited several Arab capitals and leaked from Washington, confirming National Security Adviser John Bolton's request to the Pentagon ) To prepare detailed plans on specific targets within Iran.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the White House, through its national security adviser, had asked the Pentagon to develop military alternatives to strikes against Iran, a request that aroused great concern among Defense Ministry and State Department diplomats.

Bolton's request came after his country's embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in the city of Basra were attacked with no casualties.

Commenting on the news, the Pentagon said it was providing President Trump with military options for all types of threats, including those posed by Iran, whether they were to deter or respond if necessary.

The "Ten-Year Challenge" has been marked with the advent of the new year, and the pioneers of social media are publishing new images of them and others they have picked up 10 years ago for comparison.
