Donald Trump made this Saturday proposals on immigration to end the budget blocking of federal services for almost a month. But the compromise outlined by the Republican president was rejected by the Democratic opposition.

Donald Trump does not give up his wall. He is determined as promised to " control immigration in one way or another ". He said it again and again this Saturday night. The US president still demands the release of the $ 5.7 billion he is asking Congress to finance the construction of a steel fence on the Mexican border and 2,700 additional border agents.

In exchange, the president offered $ 800 million in humanitarian aid and a temporary status with extensions of residence permits to about one million migrants who could eventually be expelled from the United States.

The leader of the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi had rejected in advance this offer whose content had been unveiled by the press.
