State Department spokesman Heather Nauert resigned from her post. This was announced by the head of the US Foreign Ministry Mike Pompeo.

“On behalf of the State Department family, we thank Heather Nauert for her service and two years of unsurpassed perfection. You will perfectly represent America in the Fulbright Program, ”he wrote on Twitter.

The Fulbright Program is a system of educational grants, founded by former Senator James William Fulbright in 1946. It is funded by the State Department and stimulates the education of both foreign students in the United States and American abroad.

US President Donald Trump also thanked Nawert for her work as State Department spokesperson.

“Thank you so much Heather Nauert for serving the country at the US Department of State. Great job! I am proud that you have joined the Fulbright Program Team, ”he wrote on Twitter.

Recall Nauert was appointed to the post of press secretary of the US Foreign Office April 24, 2017. Thus, she held this post for almost two years. Prior to that, she worked as a news presenter on the Fox News Channel.

“Nawert came to the Department with more than 15 years of experience as a TV presenter and correspondent, covering foreign and domestic events, including the attacks of September 11, the war in Iraq and the genocide in Darfur in Sudan. Heather’s media experience and interest in the field of international relations is valuable, as it will broadcast the foreign policy position of the administration to US citizens and the world, ”the State Department said in a statement.

Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that Trump likes to watch the Fox News Channel and, moreover, the FOX & Friends program, which since 2008 was conducted by Nauert, is the favorite program of the American president.

“Encourage more correct behavior”

In her post Heather Nauert followed the course of the presidential administration. Even before Trump was elected head of state, she expressed her support for him. Supported Nauert and sanctions policies pursued by Washington. Restrictive measures against Russia, according to Nauert, allow Moscow to make it behave “more correctly”.

“In such a situation, you have to lead discussions with other governments. And the provisions are the way in which we are trying to induce the government to more correct behavior, ”she said during a briefing in August 2018.

Nauert, speaking of the chemical attack allegedly carried out by Damascus in the Syrian city of Duma in April 2018, did not provide evidence, saying that the United States "just know" about the attempts of Russia and the Arab republic to "hide" evidence.

"We think that Russian officials, along with the Syrian regime, are working to clear out the sites of the alleged attacks and remove evidence of the use of chemical weapons ... We just know that they are trying to clean up," the spokeswoman said.

Trump also wanted Nauert to be appointed by the US envoy to the UN, to which she agreed in December 2018. However, in February, she withdrew her candidacy from consideration for this position.

"Just read"

Until Nauert, the post of official representative of the US State Department was occupied by Elizabeth Trudeau, John Kirby, Mark Toner and, until March 2015, Jennifer Psaki, who is most known for her reservations and mistakes. So, in May 2014, commenting on the referendums in the south-east of Ukraine on the status of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, psaki announced violations of the electoral process, but could not explain their words.

"The voting methodology is highly suspicious, there are reports of electoral" carousels, pre-filled ballots, "she said.

In response to questions about what the "merry-go-round" is, psaki said that she "just read, and she herself is not very familiar with this term."

In addition, Psaki said that gas is being supplied to Russia from Western Europe through Ukraine.

“We want Ukraine to have access to additional gas volumes, if they are required. As you all know, natural gas is transported via a gas pipeline from Western Europe through Ukraine to Russia, ”she said.

Former Fox News employee, officer, Obama team member

According to NBC data from three sources, the next State Department spokesperson will also be a former Fox News and Fox Business Network employee — Morgan Ortagus. NBC interlocutors did not specify when the appointment will be announced.

A Fox News spokesman said on March 28 that Ortagus no longer works for the TV channel. The State Department and the White House have not yet commented on this publication.
