"Belgium has joined the call of the EU member states for immediate free and fair elections in Venezuela in order to ensure respect for the will of the people," the king’s foreign minister, Didier Reinders, wrote on Twitter.

A similar statement was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

“The people of Venezuela should be able to freely determine their future. If the country does not announce the holding of transparent and credible elections within 8 days, the Netherlands is ready to recognize Guaido as interim president, ”wrote Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Block on Twitter.

Earlier, Great Britain, Germany, France and Spain declared their readiness to recognize the President of Venezuela the chairman of the National Assembly, Juan Guaido, if the election is not announced in eight days in the country.
