The city of Fresnes (Val-de-Marne) has announced the withdrawal of its textile recycling terminals.

The containers were subject to numerous damages and thefts were committed.

The situation generated wild deposits in the surroundings.

“This decision breaks our hearts, because bringing clothes to recycling is important”;

said the municipality, quoted by

Le Parisien

this Wednesday.

The municipality mentioned the exhaustion of cleaning services, forced to very regular interventions.

She also highlighted the reluctance of residents to donate clothes only to find them abandoned on the sidewalk.

The town hall of the town said it was thinking about a “more efficient” collection system, which would allow it to continue to collect up to 50 tonnes of clothing per year.

For this, terminals could be installed in closed or supervised places.

Associations could also collect donations directly from the dumpsters.

Finally, the city of Fresnes plans to organize a monthly collection of clothes with the help of a specialized association, compared to four per year currently.
