Reporter's Notes Be

wary of "laughing gas hiding a knife" poisoning young people

  This is a real case.

Cui Kai (a pseudonym), a young man from Yangzhou, Jiangsu, before the reporter's eyes, has fluffy hair and dim eyes.

He was originally a strong physique, but he limped when he walked. He could only stand on his toes, and his feet could not land completely on the ground. It was hard to imagine that he was only 22 years old.

After 3 years of smoking "laughing gas", his physical and mental state was almost completely destroyed.

Cui Kai's parents divorced since he was a child, and he has always lived with his father.

His father is busy with his business and will give him 10,000 yuan a month for living expenses.

Later, he left home and went to a university in Suzhou to study for a self-study undergraduate course, feeling very lonely.

Once, he saw a roommate lying on the bed with a balloon in his mouth and kept inhaling. After curiously asking, he realized that the roommate was "playing balloons."

Unable to help his roommate "recommend", Cui Kai also picked up the balloon and took a tentative breath.

What impressed him was that the gas had a faint sweet smell when he first entered it, and his body was dizzy, and his body was soft, "as if he had forgotten all his troubles."

Soon, he became fascinated by this "mysterious gas."

At that time, there were not many people selling such things in the market, so the price was higher, 950 yuan per box.

Since Cui Kai's pocket money is relatively sufficient, he buys at least 3 boxes of "laughing gas" each time and smokes with his roommates.

A few months later, Cui Kai found out that he was addicted.

"If you don't smoke, I feel very irritable, and I feel like I can't tell." After that, he increased his daily intake, buying 5 boxes each time.

After half a year, he suddenly felt more and more numb in his hands and feet.

After seeing news reports on the Internet, he knew that inhaling "laughing gas" might cause paralysis.

Later, due to physical reasons, he chose to drop out of school.

During the new crown pneumonia epidemic, he had nothing to do with "can't help but temptation", and opened a hotel room to inhale "laughing gas" all day long.

This time, his sucking tool changed from a balloon to a cream foamer.

Sometimes, he smokes 1,400 "gas bombs" a day.

In August 2020, Cui Kai's effects of inhaling "laughing gas" became more and more serious. His body went from bad to worse. At its worst, his feet were weak and he could no longer walk.

The doctor can do nothing about this: "Now it can only be relieved, but it is difficult to cure it."

Now, two bottles of infusion and one injection every 3 days have become his daily life.

Despite this, he still did not "quit" the addiction, and even felt that only inhaling "laughing gas" could bring him happiness.

In September 2021, he was arrested by the local police when he was "cheering up" at the hotel.

Recently, when interviewed by a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily, he looked at his severely deformed feet and shook his head reluctantly and said: "What can I do? It will be uncomfortable if I don't smoke." He wears expensive clothes. It’s a trendy brand, but there is already a layer of black stains on clothes and shoes.

During the interview, Gao Xiongwei, the post prosecutor of the First Procuratorate of the People's Procuratorate of Zhangjiagang City, told reporters that most of the “laughing gas” smokers are teenagers, and they are prone to “trafficking and sucking”.

After inhaling "laughing gas", the human body will experience symptoms of anesthesia, and it is also easy to induce rape, robbery and other crimes.

He suggested strengthening precautions and crackdowns in bars, KTVs, hotels and other entertainment and accommodation places to prevent young people from going astray.
