"Dear Olesya Gennadievna, please accept my deep condolences, words of support and sympathy in connection with the death of your mother," reads a statement published on the Kremlin's website.

Putin noted that Ruslanova lived the fate of her heroines and conquered the audience with her original talent, inner strength and dignity.

“The bright memory of the People's Artist of Russia Nina Ruslanova will forever remain in the hearts of relatives, friends, all fans of her generous talent,” he concluded.

Ruslanova died at the age of 76 after a long illness.

The actress played in the films Heart of a Dog, My Love, Shadows Disappear at Noon, Don't Shoot White Swans, Afonya, Be My Husband.

The farewell ceremony for the People's Artist of Russia will be held at the House of Cinema on November 24.
