This power station is also known as the "Yellow River Leading Hydropower Station". It is the first large-scale cascade hydropower station planned for the Longqing section of the upper reaches of the Yellow River. It is a large-scale water conservancy project designed and constructed by China.
In 1989, all four units of the power station were put into operation for power generation, with an average annual power generation of 6 billion dry watt-hours and a storage capacity of 24.7 billion cubic meters.
