[Commentary] Do you know?

Hydropower stations also have their own "physical doctors" who go deep into the "five internal organs" of the hydropower station, collect tens of thousands of data, and build an "electrocardiogram". Through data comparison, abnormalities are found and repaired in time.

In late October, members of the observation team of the Liujiaxia Hydropower Plant's hydraulic branch went to the inside of the dam to carry out basic survey work and "routine physical examination" for the dam.

Observer Jin Jie told reporters that they used equipment to observe the deformation and leakage of the dam in order to grasp the "health" of the dam.

Our observation work is not like what you have seen (with) the grandeur of the "lifting door to release water", and there is no busy scene of the construction site. (We are on) dark corridors, high and steep hillsides, at more than 700 measurement points, (Collect) tens of thousands of data, this is the normal state of our daily work.

[Explanation] The Liujiaxia Hydropower Station located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River is my country's first large-scale hydropower station above one million kilowatts to survey, design, manufacture equipment, construction, installation, and commissioning management.

The safety of the dam directly determines the lives and properties of millions of people downstream. Therefore, the observation work has been carried out simultaneously since the beginning of the construction of the project.

Jin Jie, who has short hair, fair skin and a blue hard hat, has been in business for 3 years and has footprints in all monitoring points of the Liujiaxia Hydropower Station dam. She told reporters that there are more than 770 observation points in the dam, and with the increase of smart devices, The coverage rate of automated monitoring reaches 90%, but some observation points cannot be set up due to the harsh environment and can only be observed manually.

Some measuring points are in the basic corridors, with accumulated water and silt. Our observation workers stepped into the mud without paying attention because of the changing lights.

[Explanation] In an inconspicuous corner, an observer opened an iron door, which was completely dark. They skillfully turned on the flashlight, followed by the sound of water droplets, and stepped onto the folding iron ladder 20 meters deep.

It took about 10 minutes for the team members to arrive in the corridor to carry out survey work.

In the dark corridor, only the light of the observers' flashlights kept moving forward...The observers were all proficient in the observation work, such as running ruler, lighting, emcee, reading, resuming, and recording.

Zhao Yiping, director of the Liujiaxia Hydropower Plant's hydraulic branch, said that the basic survey is relatively easy, like the dam crest line of sight project, which is a general mobilization of the whole class, and to avoid the influence of atmospheric refraction and ensure the accuracy of the data, it can only be carried out at night.

The monitoring of dams is a long process. Through the accumulation of observational data, and then through the analysis of observational data, it is a slow process of change. It is not a process that can discover many laws at a glance. Therefore, through us The employees worked hard, worked hard to make statistics, and worked hard to calculate the safety of the dam, and provided reliable data for our experts to analyze the safe operation of the dam.

[Explanation] It is reported that the National Energy Administration's Dam Safety Supervision Center conducts regular inspections of the dam every five years. In 2019, the Liujiaxia Dam was assessed as a Class A dam after the fifth round of regular inspections.

Li Xiaoren, deputy director of the Liujiaxia Hydropower Plant, believes that the Liujiaxia Dam, which has gone through more than 50 years, is still strong and safe, and it is inseparable from the hard work of every "hydropower person".
