The “Saving Society Niigata”, which is appealing for the rescue of abducted victims by North Korea, resumed the signature activity, which was suspended due to the new coronavirus, for the first time in five months from the 25th.

"Saving Society Niigata", which appeals for the rescue of victims of abduction by North Korea, including Megumi Yokota who was abducted in Niigata City, has suspended signing activities since February due to the influence of the new coronavirus. However, it resumed on the 25th after an interval of about 5 months.

At the “Niigata Furusato Village” in Nishi-ku, Niigata City, where the activities were carried out, the staff of the “Saving Society” wore masks and face shields to call for signatures to prevent infection.

This time, on the 5th of last month, Shigeru Yokota died without being able to meet her daughter Megumi again.

A man from Gunma Prefecture who cooperated with the signing said, "As one of my parents, I have a hard time thinking how Shigeru died. I want Megumi to come back soon." ..

Tadashi Takahashi, Chairman of “Saving Society Niigata,” said, “I was worried that Shigeru's will would be weathered, so we took steps to sign the signature. At least the person who signed the signature is ours. I wanted to express my behavior in action."

On the 25th, more than 850 signatures were gathered, so the association will continue to take infection prevention measures and want to carry out signature activities in various parts of the prefecture.
