Toyota fears a decline in sales after two of its companies were involved in fraud. Toyota and Lexus sales increased, while Daihatsu sales declined last month by 51% and production by 68%.
This is the first decline in production in 13 months. Toyota said that it will resume production at its factories in the Japanese prefectures of Mie and Gifu on March 4, after the ministry lifted the ban on three types of engines produced by Toyota Industries. Toyota recalled 381,000 Tacoma light trucks due to a defect in the rear axle.
