Hitomi Soga was abducted by North Korea in August 1978 along with her mother Miyoshi while returning from shopping. She later returned to Japan, but Miyoshi's whereabouts are still unknown.
Mr. Soga has continued to campaign for signatures calling for a resolution to the abduction issue while working as a Sado City employee. He began working in the abduction victim response section from the 1st of this month. Her main job is to give lectures all over the country and communicate about the abducted issue to children and others visiting Sado.
