The French Academy opened Thursday the season of literary prizes by awarding its Grand Prix novel to Laurent Binet for Civilizations , announced his publisher Grasset on Twitter.

The novelist was chosen in the fourth round by 10 votes against 8 for Bruno de Cessole ( The island of the last man , Albin Michel), then specified the Academy.
