Metropolitan area Newly built condominium units sold 44% decrease in the first half of the year 15:03 on July 15 at the minimum

This year, the number of new condominiums released in the Tokyo metropolitan area in the first half was 7,497, a decrease of more than 40% compared to the same period last year. This was the lowest since the start of the survey in 1973 because the business activities of real estate companies were restricted due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

According to the Real Estate Economic Research Institute, a private research company, the number of new condominiums released in the first half of the year from January to last month was 7,497 in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba.

This is a large decrease of 44.2% compared to the same period last year, the lowest in the first half since the start of the survey in 1973.

This is because the business activities of real estate companies were restricted, such as the suspension of model rooms due to the spread of infection.

On the other hand, the average price per unit was 66,680,000 yen, which was 8.7% higher than in the same period last year and was the highest in the first half of the year due to the high proportion of properties in Tokyo's 23 wards with high prices.

By region, the average price in Tokyo's 23 wards rose by 7.1% to 81.9 million yen, and outside the 23 wards, it fell by 3.4% to 54.49 million yen. Kanagawa prefecture decreased 2.9% to 51.5 million yen, Saitama prefecture increased 1.6% to 492.9 million yen, and Chiba prefecture increased 3.4% to 463.9 million yen.

The Real Estate Economic Research Institute said, "It is difficult to aggressively launch the product in the future due to the spread of the infection, and it may be the least during the year."
