"According to preliminary statistics, in the 33 days before the Spring Festival travel season, the number of people moving across regions across society reached 7.204 billion, and cargo transportation was also efficient and orderly," said Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport.

As of February 27, the number of cross-regional personnel movements across the country increased by 10.6% compared with last year and 9.1% compared with 2019.

In 2023, 3.9 trillion yuan will be invested in fixed assets in transportation across the country, 2,776 kilometers of high-speed rail will be opened, 7,000 kilometers of highways will be built, renovated and expanded, 1,000 kilometers of new and improved waterways will be added, the number of transportation aviation airports will reach 259, and all organized villages across the country will have postal services.
The level of transportation services continues to improve.
According to preliminary statistics, 54.75 billion tons of operating freight were completed last year, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%, an increase of 16.9% over 2019; 61.25 billion cross-regional personnel movements were completed, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%, an increase of 0.8% over 2019.
Smart green development is further advanced.
The construction of smart railways, smart highways, and smart waterways is accelerating, and the scale of automated container terminals that have been built or are under construction ranks among the top in the world.
New energy vehicles accounted for 77.6% of urban buses, and the use of ship shore power in the Yangtze River Economic Belt increased by 66% year-on-year.

As of the end of last year, the Ministry of Transport had carried out 424 pilot projects in 77 units to build a powerful transportation country.
At present, the pilot is progressing smoothly, 44 projects are undergoing evaluation and acceptance, and some projects have been completed.
For example, Shandong Province's "Smart Port Construction" pilot project has built the world's first intelligent air rail collection and distribution system; CRRC Group's "Green Intelligent Transportation Equipment Development and Application" pilot project has built the world's first high-speed freight train with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. In 2023, the express delivery business volume will complete 132 billion pieces, and the business revenue will be 1.2 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.4% and 14.3% respectively. The annual per capita express delivery usage will exceed 90 pieces.
Postal express services with fast timeliness, wide coverage and high cost performance have helped my country become the world's largest online retail market for 11 consecutive years.
"This year, the State Post Bureau will speed up the implementation of major postal engineering projects in the 14th Five-Year Plan and the construction of major express delivery infrastructure, continue to improve the service capabilities and levels of postal express delivery, and make industry contributions to effectively reducing logistics costs for the whole society."
