China News Service, Taiyuan, February 28 (Gao Yuqing and Zhang Yilong) Reporters learned from the State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company (hereinafter referred to as "Shanxi Electric Power") on the 28th that as of the end of January 2024, Shanxi's wind and solar new energy installed capacity exceeded 50 million kilowatts , reaching 50.93 million kilowatts, more than one-third of the province's total installed power generation capacity.

As the country's first comprehensive reform pilot for energy revolution, Shanxi has continued to promote clean and low-carbon energy transformation in recent years, further promoted the optimization of energy supply structure, and accelerated the construction of a new power system.

Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", the province's wind and solar new energy installed capacity has grown at an average annual rate of 14.98%.

Data show that as of the end of January 2024, Shanxi's wind and solar new energy installed capacity reached 50.93 million kilowatts, accounting for 38.18% of the province's total installed power generation capacity, including 25.03 million kilowatts of wind power and 25.90 million kilowatts of solar power.

In order to promote the consumption of new energy, Shanxi Electric Power has accelerated the layout of new energy collection stations. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, it plans to build 12 500 kV and 4 220 kV new energy collection stations to enhance the new energy grid connection capacity.

At present, three new energy collection stations including 500 kV Xinrong, Shuozhou Minghai Lake Expansion and 220 kV Pingyou have been put into operation.

At the same time, Shanxi Electric Power uses technical means to deepen the application of new energy cloud and improve the service efficiency of the whole process of new energy; it creates an accurate wind power prediction model for strong convective weather and continuously improves the accuracy of new energy prediction.

Since the model was fully implemented in July 2023, the accuracy of wind power output forecasting under strong convective weather has reached 95.5%, which is 2.3% higher than conventional forecasting.

In addition, Shanxi continues to increase the proportion of new energy power in Shanxi power transmission.

In 2023, Shanxi's annual external power transmission reached a new high, reaching 157.6 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 7.67%, of which Shanxi's new energy power transmission was 9.586 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 14.95%.

At present, Shanxi's new energy utilization rate continues to remain above 97%.
