Ministry of Commerce responds to U.S. accusations of China’s economic and trade policies: confusing right and wrong

　　China News Service, Beijing, February 26 (Reporter Li Xiaoyu) In response to the report issued by the United States accusing China's economic and trade system and policies of posing huge challenges to global trade, the head of the World Trade Organization Department of the Ministry of Commerce of China responded on the 26th that the report fully reflected China firmly opposes the unilateralism and bullying behavior of the United States.

　　Recently, the Office of the United States Trade Representative released the "Report on China's Fulfillment of its WTO Accession Commitments in 2023", denying China's achievements in fulfilling its commitments to join the WTO and accusing China's economic and trade system and policies of posing huge challenges to global trade.

　　In response, the head of the World Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce said in response to a reporter's question that the United States ignored China's great achievements in fulfilling its WTO commitments, distorted China's remarkable achievements in the construction of a socialist market economy and reform and opening up, and denied China's support for the multilateral trading system. It has made important contributions to the development of the world economy and the world economy. It accuses China's economic and trade policies with baseless and arbitrary standards, falsely calls China's legitimate trade measures "economic coercion", confuses right and wrong, and labels China's response measures due to the US blockade and suppression as "active." The label of "decoupling" and false accusation that China has caused "overcapacity" fully reflect the unilateralism and bullying behavior of the United States.

China firmly opposes this.

　　The person in charge said that since joining the WTO, China, as the largest developing member, has always firmly supported the multilateral trading system, practiced true multilateralism, and earnestly fulfilled its WTO commitments.

　　The person in charge said that the United States, based on "America First", violated WTO rules, implemented unilateral trade bullying, formulated discriminatory industrial policies, disrupted the global industrial and supply chains, seriously affected the international trade order, and harmed the common interests of WTO members. China and other members have expressed concerns on many occasions.

　　The person in charge said that when the WTO dispute settlement body has ruled that relevant US measures violate WTO rules, the United States not only refuses to implement the WTO ruling, but also "paralyzes" the WTO's appellate body, causing serious damage to the multilateral trading system.

The U.S. does not reflect on and correct its own behavior, but instead uses smear and blame-shifting methods to cover up its violations and sabotage. This is extremely irresponsible.

　　The person in charge said that China once again calls on the United States to promptly correct its wrong words and deeds and earnestly abide by WTO rules and its own commitments.
