The French manufacturer will be the star of the Geneva Motor Show, with the world preview presentation of its highly anticipated 100% electric R5.

An industrial and commercial issue since Renault has announced its desire to only sell electric models in Europe from 2030.

The auto show returns to Geneva this Monday.

The meeting had not reappeared since its cancellation in 2020 at the time of the Covid-19 epidemic.

It will be an edition marked by the absence of many manufacturers, but it is a boon for Renault.

The R5 must be the car that replaces the Zoe.

To do this, it is in the heritage of the brand that Luca de Meo, boss of Renault for almost 4 years, went to draw.

Fiat 500, Mini, in the automotive sector, vintage often pays off.

The risk is measured, estimates Renaud Kayanakis of Sia Partners.

"It's a market trend, from the 1970s-1980s. And so, the bet of a nostalgic return is not too risky. There is a real challenge for Renault in the association of this design a little nostalgic with today's cutting-edge technology and the move to electrification of the vehicle fleet," he explains to Europe 1. 

A price of around 25,000 euros 

The R5 which will be revealed this Monday will cost around 25,000 euros, or 25% less than the Zoé but it will be more than the Citroën eC3.

Renault's city car will come out of a French factory, that of Douai, in the North, whose production lines will see the arrival in the coming months of another modernized icon: the 4L.
