China News Service, Beijing, February 25 (Reporter Wang Enbo) China's deep oil and gas exploration in the Bohai Sea has made another discovery.

CNOOC announced on the 25th that the production capacity of the new drilling well in the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield, a 100-million-ton oilfield, reached a new high, adding more than 40 million cubic meters of proven oil and gas reserves, pushing the field's cumulative proven reserves to exceed 200 million cubic meters. Become the world's largest metamorphic oil field.

The Bozhong 26-6 oil field is located in the southern waters of the Bohai Sea, about 170 kilometers away from Tianjin City, with an average water depth of 22.1 meters. Since its discovery in 2023, it has continued to explore and drilled multiple evaluation wells.

Among them, Well Bozhong 26-2 North 2 encountered an oil and gas layer of 118 meters, and tested an average daily oil production of over 390 cubic meters and a daily gas production of over 50,000 cubic meters, setting a record for the highest test productivity of a new drilling well in the oil field, further expanding the oil field reserves. scale.

According to reports, based on normal recovery calculations, the Bozhong 26-6 Oilfield can extract more than 30 million cubic meters of crude oil. After being refined into gasoline, it can meet the daily transportation needs of urban residents with a population of one million for more than 20 years. At the same time, it can extract more than 110 million cubic meters of natural gas. billion cubic meters, which can satisfy the household gas needs of urban residents with a population of one million for more than 60 years, and has considerable social and economic benefits.

The reservoirs of the Bozhong 26-6 oil field are buried in buried hills thousands of meters deep on the seafloor. They are mainly composed of metamorphic rocks. They are located in an area where extension-strike-slip composite faults continue to be strongly active.

Traditional theories believe that due to the continuous strong activity of faults in this area, deep oil and gas reservoirs are easily destroyed and it is difficult to form large-scale oil and gas accumulation. Previously, more than 80 deep wells drilled by many well-known foreign oil companies have not made large-scale discoveries.

CNOOC scientific researchers conduct scientific and technological research, innovate oil and gas exploration theories, independently develop ultra-low frequency all-round seismic exploration technology, conquer deep seismic imaging of complex fault zones, and promote the expansion of the main battlefield of Bohai Sea exploration from shallow to deep, and from explicit buried hills to hidden hills. It also guided the discovery of multiple billion-ton oil fields such as the Bozhong 26-6 oil field.

Xu Changgui, deputy chief engineer of CNOOC Exploration, said that this breakthrough further consolidated the material foundation for increasing reserves and production in the Bohai Oilfield, and provided solid theoretical and technical reserves for China's offshore oil industry exploration and development to develop into deep and complex fields.
