Alexey Belogoriev, director of research at the Institute of Energy and Finance, stated this in an interview with the Prime agency.

“The optimal scenario for Russia is if Gazprom itself or through its subsidiary participates in Ukrainian auctions that distribute free gas transportation capacity,” he said.

According to Belogoriev, in this case, “nothing will change” in Gazprom’s relations with consumers.

Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that the Kyiv authorities continue to receive money from Russia for gas transit.

Analysts also explained whether the agreement on gas transit from Russia through Ukraine will be extended.
