With this year's spring labor struggle focusing on continued wage increases, labor unions at major steel companies submitted demands to management on the 9th demanding wage increases, and labor-management negotiations have begun in earnest.

Among these, Nippon Steel's labor union submitted a request to management at its headquarters in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, demanding a monthly wage increase of 30,000 yen, equivalent to the base increase.

The demand for a monthly wage increase of 30,000 yen is the highest level since 1975, when prices rose due to the oil crisis.

In making the submission, Naomichi Kono, chairman of the Japan Steel Workers' Union, said, ``In order to survive the competition to acquire human resources, it is extremely important to create attractive working conditions. We need continued wage increases that outpace price increases.'' said.

Labor unions at other major steel companies are also demanding the same level of wage increases, with the JFE Steel labor union submitting a written request in the morning of the 9th, and the Kobe Steel labor union due in the afternoon. I'm doing it.

Additionally, the labor unions of major machinery manufacturers such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries have decided to submit written demands to management on the 9th.

The focus of this year's spring labor union is whether the momentum of last year's wage increase, which was the highest in 30 years, can be maintained, and small and medium-sized enterprises are increasingly passing on price increases to secure the funds for wage increases, and the number of people working in non-regular employment is increasing. Another issue is whether wage increases will spread among people.

Automaker labor unions and other organizations are expected to submit a written request next week.
