The Board of Directors of Criteria, the financial holding company of the La Caixa Group, has appointed Ángel Simón as the new CEO.

Simón presides over one of the companies owned by the holding company, Agbar, and is vice president of Veolia.

He replaces Marcelino Armentier in office.

Criteria, chaired by Isidro Fainé, is the most important Spanish investment holding company.

It has relevant stakes in the country's large strategic companies such as CaixaBank, (32%), Telefónica (2.4%) or Naturgy (26%).

The dividends obtained nourish the social work of the La Caixa Foundation, whose budget will exceed 600 million this year.
