Domestic shipments of white goods last year were negative for the first time in two years, and the main reason for this was a change in consumer awareness, placing more emphasis on traveling and going out amid rising prices.

According to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers Association, the domestic shipment value of white goods such as air conditioners and washing machines last year was 2,543.3 billion yen, a 1.1% decrease from the previous year and the first negative figure in two years.

This was mainly due to a rebound in products that had sold well in the previous year, such as air conditioners, as well as a change in the mindset of consumers who are placing more emphasis on spending on travel and going out, as consumers continue to refrain from purchasing home appliances due to rising prices. I think this is a factor.

The Japan Electrical Manufacturers Association states, ``Changes in consumer awareness that emphasize service consumption may continue to affect sales of home appliances.''

On the other hand, domestic shipments of consumer electronics such as televisions and audio equipment last year amounted to 1,123.2 billion yen, a 10.1% decrease from the previous year, marking the fourth consecutive year of decline.

According to JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association), on a volume basis, digital video cameras have decreased by 31%, Blu-ray recorders and players have decreased by 23.2%, and car navigation systems have decreased by 10.9%, with the most notable products continuing to see a decline in sales. .
