Daniel Funke, head of the capital office at Burda-Verlag, is leaving the company on February 1st.

The separation was at the 42-year-old's request.

The previous lobbyist for the publisher, based in Offenburg, Baden, came to “Bunte” in 2009 and reported for the magazine from Berlin for ten years.

Since 2019, Funke has headed the capital office of Burda-Verlag.

Welte pays tribute to Funke

"Everything has it's time.

“I have had 15 eventful and fascinating years at Burda Publishing,” Funke said in a company statement about his departure.

And: »Now I feel like taking on new tasks.

I would like to thank my team and all colleagues at Burda for the great collaboration and team spirit.«

According to the publisher, Funke was, among other things, entrusted with organizing the Bambi media and television award.

Funke hit the headlines in 2022 because of the purchase of a luxury property together with his husband Jens Spahn.

He and the former CDU Federal Health Minister are married.

They acquired the property in July 2020 - a few months after the outbreak of the corona pandemic - for 4.125 million euros (you can read more about the purchase and financing here).

Burda board member Philipp Welte, whom Funke also thanked, highlighted the commitment of the Berlin mastermind.

“With his great journalistic feeling for people, he made a decisive contribution to the success of our events,” says Welte.

Funke will remain associated with the publisher on a voluntary basis as a member of the Bambi jury and as an advisory board member of the Tribute to Bambi Foundation.
