The world's leading cloud service company, American AWS (Amazon Web Services), has announced plans to invest approximately 2 trillion yen in its business in Japan by 2027.

With the aim of strengthening the generative AI business, leading American IT companies are successively announcing expansion of investment in Japan.

AWS (Amazon Web Services) held a press conference in Tokyo on the 19th and announced investment plans for its business in Japan.

It plans to invest 14.9 billion dollars, or 2.26 trillion yen in Japanese yen, over the five years from 2023 to 2027.

The company plans to use the money to build and expand data centers in anticipation of growing demand for generative AI.

The company has invested 1.51 trillion yen in Japan over the 10-year period up to 2022, but this will significantly expand the scale of its investment.

Japanese companies are also accelerating development to popularize generative AI.

Under these circumstances, leading American companies such as Microsoft and Google have also announced plans to increase investment in data centers in Japan, and competition to expand scale is expected to intensify.
