Hu Wenhui pointed out that intellectual property statistics objectively record the development process of China's intellectual property undertakings. It has been nearly 40 years since the implementation of China's patent system, and over the past 40 years, China's invention patent authorization has grown steadily, and the innovation vitality of the whole society has continued to burst out, which is characterized by the acceleration of high-value invention patent creation reserves, the acceleration of innovative enterprises to shape new advantages in development, and the significant leading role of innovation in key regions.

By the end of 2023, the effective number of invention patents in the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was 130.8 million, 70,3 and 67,2 respectively, accounting for 65.6% of the domestic total, with a year-on-year increase of 21.1%, 21.0% and 23.2%, respectively. By the end of 2023, there were 10,60 valid invention patents in China that have been maintained for more than 2 years, a year-on-year increase of 35.4% and 2.4 times that of the end of the 8th Five-Year Plan.
