The former Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, will be the new president of Paradores de Turismo de España, the public entity that manages the accommodation located in some of the country's historical heritage buildings. Sánchez will take over from Pedro Saura, who in turn will take over the presidency of Correos replacing Juan Manuel Serrano.

The appointments were made on Wednesday, after the last Council of Ministers of the year, in which Pedro Sánchez's government approved the new decree on anti-crisis measures against inflation and the war in Ukraine.

Raquel Sánchez took charge of the Transport portfolio in the second half of the last legislature, after the departure of José Luis Ábalos in the first major reshuffle of the 'Pedro Sánchez era'. His position in the new Executive has been divided between the new Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, and the new Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez. Raquel Sánchez's departure was surrounded by emotion and neither the minister nor a good part of her team could hold back their tears at the act of handing over portfolios with the start of the new legislature.

Her new destination is now a way of recognising and rewarding the work she did during her time as minister, marked by the drafting of the first Housing Law in Spain or by the controversy with the Renfe trains in Asturias and Cantabrai.

Saura, for his part, also held the position of Secretary of State for Transport under Ábalos, from where he was relocated to Paradores. Now his mission will not be easy at the head of Correos, also at the center of controversy during the last elections due to the collapse in the processing of postal votes.
