Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, a major American semiconductor manufacturer, who is visiting Japan, met with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura on May 5 and revealed that the company is considering establishing an R&D base in Japan.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, a major American semiconductor company that has strengths in the development of semiconductors called "GPUs" used in generative AI, visited the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on the morning of May 5 and met with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Nishimura.

In his speech, Minister Nishimura stated, "Generative AI is a groundbreaking project that will change our industry, economy, and society, and we are focusing on development in Japan, but we need Nvidia's GPUs, and collaboration is essential," and asked for cooperation from domestic industries.

In response, CEO Huang revealed that he is considering establishing a new base for AI research and development in Japan in collaboration with research institutes and engineers in Japan, and supporting startups in Japan.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Huang said, "Manufacturing and robotics are both very important in Japan, but the combination with generative AI has the potential to revolutionize this industry.
