On November 11, the super project "Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel" ushered in a new node - the main line was fully connected, and important progress was made in the construction of the project, which is one step closer to being officially completed and opened to traffic next year.

On the eve of the completion of the main line of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel, a reporter from the Economic and Social Department of the People's Daily rushed to the front line of construction, drove into the passage in advance, drilled into the elevator built close to the main tower, climbed two flights of stairs through the construction platform, and finally climbed to the top of the main tower of the Lingdingyang Bridge, which is about 270 floors high and 90 meters above the sea, and climbed the "cat road" in the sky, personally felt the hard work of the front-line builders, and appreciated the great significance of this super project.

Standing on Ma'an Island, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, the Shenzhong Passage is like a swimming dragon, winding over the deep blue sea, sometimes jumping into the air, sometimes escaping into the sea, traveling 24 kilometers to Qianhai, Shenzhen.

Following the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, this super-large sea-crossing channel, which integrates "tunnels, islands, bridges, and underwater interconnection", has once again refreshed a number of world records - the world's largest underwater anchorage, the world's largest full-span offshore suspension bridge and the world's longest and widest steel-shell concrete immersed tunnel...

If you look down from a higher perspective, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is 30 kilometers away from the Humen Bridge in the north and 31 kilometers away from the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in the south, becoming the key "one horizontal" of the "A" shaped traffic main skeleton of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. After the completion and opening to traffic next year, the driving time between Zhongshan and Shenzhen will be shortened from 2 hours to 20 minutes, becoming a major traffic artery connecting the urban agglomerations on both sides of the Pearl River Estuary.

How is a mega project built?

What is the reason for the many "world's bests"?

As one of the most difficult cross-sea cluster projects in the world, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor is located in the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, spanning the east and west banks of the Pearl River Estuary, connecting Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhongshan.

Along the Zhongshan Bridge and Lingdingyang Bridge all the way to the east, the follow-up construction of artificial islands and undersea tunnels is in full swing, and the huge "sea kites" connecting the urban agglomerations on both sides of the Pearl River Estuary leap to the sea, becoming a magnificent scenery on the Lingding Ocean.

What does it mean to build the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor?

Standing on the main tower of Lingdingyang Bridge and looking into the distance, the answer gradually emerged: on this sea area of one of the busiest in the world, looking east, planes are taking off from Shenzhen Bao'an Airport; Looking to the west, high-rise buildings are rising from the ground in Zhongshan, and on the vast ocean, ocean-going giant ships are lining up across the bridge to enter the port, and the world's engineering miracle - the Shenzhong Passage is like a lying wavelength rainbow, which will set up the new backbone of the development of this golden inner bay.
